MIley Cyrus Is An Entrepreneur

Miley Cyrus Know All…

Miley Cyrus has a song where she talks about a climb to get what you want… Check it:

“I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there’s a voice inside my head saying “You’ll never reach it”
Every step I’m taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking
But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There’s always gonna be another mountain I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb
The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on
‘Cause there’s always gonna be another mountain I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side It’s the climb, yeah!”

I know you might be saying… wait a second Nate, you listen to Miley Cyrus? LOL Well, no… but I have heard this song on the radio a few times and I like to see past the music and look into the meaning of a song, the lyrics, the message behind it all. And this song speaks volumes to entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship is tough. It will break you before it makes you. You will sacrifice everything, lose friends, lose money, lose confidence, shake your very beliefs and core, but it will be all worth it. Remember these lyrics and try to look past the artist. What does this mean for you in your life right now? Write it down.

Then come back and read them again in a few months. I promise it will touch you again, in a different way. Never lose faith, never give up on what you want or your dreams. NEVER let anyone tell you that you cannot do it, that you are not good enough, that you will fail. Never stop.

I remember one time while I was playing basketball and I screwed up pretty good, my coach wanted to punish me (I thought). What he really wanted to do is teach me a valuable lesson. After practice he asked me to meet him on the track. I did. When he showed up, he was carrying a chair and a Big Gulp. I strapped up my running shoes. He unfolded the chair, sat down, and took a sip. Then he looked up at me and said start running and don’t you dare stop until he said it was OK to do so…

I started to run. I kept running. And I kept running more… and more… and more.

My legs started to give out. I was short of breath. I started getting light headed. I wanted to die. Literally. My legs started to cramp. I started to yell at my coach to stop. He replied the same response that he had given to me the past hour or so… NO.

Right when I was at the brink of passing out, he asked me to look past the pain, the weakness and change my mindset. He told me to stop thinking about the agony and start thinking about not being tired at all. I did.

I will NEVER forget the rush of adrenaline that came over me. I felt energized as though I hadn’t been running for the past few hours. I instantly picked up the pace and ran easily.

After a few more laps, he said I could quit. As I crossed the finish line where he sat, I collapsed. My legs were so cramped that they were locked up. I couldn’t move them, couldn’t stretch them out. They were locked in the fetal position. He forced them open and stretched me out. I have never felt pain like this… and at the same time, I have never learned such a valuable lesson.

The human mind has amazing power. The lesson that I learned: NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER STOP, MIND OVER MATTER.

The ultimate joy, success, accomplishment, etc. is achieved after you are spent, broke, tired, ready to give up.

Welcome to entrepreneurship. Stay a while… you are going to need to, and you are definitely going to want to. 😉
